FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What types of equipment does HomeMaintIQ support?

Any equipment with a make and model number: HVAC systems, water heaters, washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, generators, pool equipment, garage door openers, and more. If it has a manufacturer's manual, we can parse it.

How does the AI find my owner's manual?

A three-phase discovery pipeline: first we check our platform library (1,200+ already-parsed models), then we search manufacturer websites and public sources, then we attempt AI-assisted URL prediction. If we can't find it, we tell you — we don't guess.

What is two-pass AI extraction?

Pass 1 extracts every maintenance task and service interval from your manual. Pass 2 returns specifically to the specification tables and pulls exact material quantities — filter sizes, fluid volumes, part numbers. Most apps stop at Pass 1.

What does the free tier include?

4 equipment assets, forever. AI manual parsing, recall monitoring, one-click email completion, Home Health Score, shopping lists, and all 23 gamification badges. The 4 free assets cover your HVAC, water heater, washer, and dryer — the four systems most likely to generate expensive repairs.

Is my data safe if HomeMaintIQ ever shuts down?

Pro tier users can export a Proof-of-Care PDF at any time — a complete record of every task completed. Your data is yours. We're also bootstrapped, so there's no VC forcing a shutdown timeline.

I was a Centriq user. Can I migrate?

Yes. We've put together a Centriq Migration Checklist that walks you through rebuilding your home's asset inventory. See the Migration Guide or go directly to our Centriq Replacement page.

What is the Founding Member offer?

The first 1,000 paid subscribers lock in 50% off any annual plan permanently — the rate never increases. Available now through the Beta period.

How is HomeMaintIQ different from a reminder app?

A reminder app lets you set a timer. HomeMaintIQ reads your actual manufacturer's manual and tells you what the timer should be set to, what materials you'll need, and what to do when it fires — for every piece of equipment in your home.
